Family Bought $10,000 In Gift Cards For Disneyland To Then Realise They’re for Disney+

Picture this: you’re days away from your dream holiday, and the bargain hunter in you decides to buy discounted gift cards for your resort. Sounds perfect, right?

Well, for one mom, this dream holiday was turning into a nightmare after she accidentally purchased $10,000 worth of Disney+ vouchers instead of Disneyland ones.

Yikes. Andie Coston’s mom made this mistake, inadvertently securing 104 years of streaming, assuming a basic $7.99 per month subscription.

Taking to TikTok, Andie explained how her mom spent the eye-watering amount on their family vacation to Disneyland, intending for her children to use the vouchers throughout the amusement park.

Their trip, originally planned for 2020, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In preparation for the rescheduled trip, her parents bought $10,000 worth of vouchers to redeem at the park.

“We finally planned it for this Christmas,” Andie shared on TikTok. “All 16 of my family members were going. To save some money, my parents bought 10k of Disney gift cards to purchase our tickets and restaurant reservations.”

She continued, “I went home this weekend, and they were having problems loading the gift cards correctly and purchasing the tickets.”

The problem soon became evident.

In a panicked state, the family posted a video seeking help to figure out how to “turn the $10,000 of Disney streaming gift cards into $10,000 of Disney Parks gift cards.”

“We leave in 6 days and the parks are selling out of tickets because it’s Christmas. My mom is distraught, Dad frustrated, and the kids worried we won’t get into Disney,” they explained.

Since the gift cards had already been scratched off, they couldn’t be returned.

Luckily, after contacting Disney, the company managed to transfer the gift cards so they could be used in the parks rather than for $10,000 worth of Disney+.

Speaking about the experience with PEOPLE, Andie said, “I am so glad we were able to get it resolved, especially for my parent’s sake. It was also good to hear that my parents are not the only ones who have experienced this.”

“I received many messages and comments from people telling me that they or someone they know have had similar experiences. I hope that this story makes more people aware of the card difference so no one else experiences this.”

This is your sign to check your Disneyland vouchers to ensure they give you more than just access to the latest season of “The Bear.”
